Renewable energy

 

Marine Technology has recently been involved in the development of a number of small and medium scale Wave Energy Converter (WEC) prototype models. In 2008, an awareness of the potential of marine energy led to MTL becoming involved in the area of wave energy research together with Sea Power Ltd. Working in close cooperation with Sea Power we were tasked with prototype design, manufacture and deployment.

 

MTL and Sea Power successfully tested a 1:40th scale model with fully functioning Power Take Off (PTO) and a full array of sensing transducers in Strathclyde University. MTL has also assisted WaveBob Ltd. in the fabrication of 1:75th scale and 1:17th scale prototype models, and has provided technical support and wave tank operations for Jospa Ltd through the Sea Power wave flume facility. 

 

Currently we are designing and manufacturing assemblies for innovative companies such as OpenHydro, Smartbay Ireland, Aerodyn and Global Renewable Solutions.
